Plein air Artist in Carmel

Happy Monday,
My husband, Charlie, and I were fortunate enough to get away to adult Disneyland; Carmel for the weekend. We drove down Friday night in the pouring rain and woke up to a glorious, sunny day. The high tide was at 9a.m. so we walked down to the coast and what a show we saw. The majority of the beach is gone due to the last 3 weeks of hammering waves which this morning  were still as powerful with about 10 foot waves constantly crashing. The surfers were out as well as locals and visitors many with their dogs. As we're walking along Scenic Ave. I stopped to chat with local artist, Barry Marshall. He was very cooperative about me putting him in my blog. He was painting out of his van and of course, I was very intrigued with his work. He shows in several galleries throughout Carmel and sells out of his van as well. He had captured the mood of the surf so beautifully that I bought the painting he was working on with little hesitation. His paintbrushes held all of the shades of blue from the ocean. I now have the painting over my fireplace in my living room. I have always wanted a painting there instead of a mirror. And I have the lasting memory of a beautiful weekend from the most gorgeous place on earth just two and a half hours away by car!

One of the best things about painting plein-air is the people you meet. Thank you for sharing your weekend get-away with me along Carmel Beach. Hope to see you again at the office, great photos too. In paint, Barry
